Born from Walsin Lihwa's decades in wire and cable
PT. Walsin Lippo Industries is a Taiwan–Indonesia joint venture between Walsin Lihwa Corporation and PT Lippo Industries, formed in 1991 to bring Taiwan's wire and cable expertise into the Indonesian market. The plant stands at Delta Silicon Industrial Park in Cikarang, West Java.
Three metals run through it — steel, aluminium and copper. From them come pre-stressed and galvanized steel wire, aluminium rod and bare conductor, and a copper cable line added in 2019. Each was added deliberately, to a plant that has not stopped drawing since its first coil in 1992.
Two production facilities in Cikarang and a corporate office in Jakarta carry the work between them, staffed by 288 people — 222 of them production operators on the floor, the remaining 66 across engineering, quality and commercial roles.
In 2026 a corporate office opens in Pantai Indah Kapuk, putting our commercial team closer to the customers whose grids, buildings and assembly lines our conductors run through.
- 1991Established as a joint venture between Walsin Lihwa Corporation (Taiwan) and PT Lippo Industries (Indonesia).
- 1992Commercial production begins mid-year with pre-stressed concrete wire and galvanized steel wire, at an initial capacity of up to 24,000 tons a year.
- 1994Product line expanded into aluminium rod and bare conductor across various types and sizes.
- 2012–2022Sustained capital investment in production technology — from steel wire and stranding machinery to higher-efficiency galvanizing, armouring and copper cable equipment.
- 2018A second production facility is established in Cikarang, expanding overall manufacturing capacity.
- 2019Entry into the copper cable segment, diversifying the portfolio beyond steel and aluminium.
- 2026A new office opens in Pantai Indah Kapuk, closer to Jakarta's business hub, without diverting focus from production at Cikarang.
